- What was life like before you became a member?
Generally speaking, life was great before joining CrossFit, however, I always try to recognize aspects of my life that can be worked on. Fitness was one of those aspects.
- At the time you enrolled, were you already exercising? What was your previous background in fitness?
As far back as I can recall I’ve been a part of sports and fitness. Coming from several years as a Football and Lacrosse athlete I dove straight into powerlifting. Once Football and Lacrosse subsided, powerlifting became my new sport. From 2017-2023 I was a part of multiple powerlifting clubs where I enjoyed the competition and comradery.
- What originally prompted you to seek us out?
Interesting story actually… Around 10 years ago I had a high school job located right next to Keystone Crossfit (Lost Trails ATV Park). While working, I would see the Keystone CrossFit members working out and really pushing themselves. This piqued my interest in which I promised myself one day I would check out Keystone CrossFit. Fast forward to 2022, I had friends and co-workers attending Keystone Crossfit. With the push and excitement from a few of those members, I found myself as a full-time athlete reaping the rewards and benefits of being such.
- What was your goal when you originally signed up?
My goal when joining was to gain a more comprehensive level of fitness that translates to usable fitness, aka Functional Fitness. That said; the flexibility, strength, cardio, and mental toughness gained from CrossFit extends into your everyday life. That was something I wanted and knew was achievable through joining. Now after being a member, I can confirm the fitness earned IN the gym directly correlates to your lifestyle OUT of the gym. Mentally and Physically.
- What have you liked best about working with us?
There’s a lot I enjoy – To name a few, the expertise in coaching, the comradery, and competition keeps me coming back over and over again. Being a part of something with a group of like-minded people and coaches is powerful and speaks for itself.
6. What are you most proud of achieving since you started?
It was full rope climbs up until a few crazy people rowed 45,000 Meters. Seriously, I’m most proud of that 45k row and proud of the few individuals that achieved such along my side… NOT easy. From a mental standpoint, I’m proud I was able to slow myself down and learn proper form and technique throughout many lifts.
7. With everything that you have accomplished, has your view of yourself changed?
It’s an athletic capability/confidence thing. Confidence is the most important single factor in this life and no matter how great your natural talent is, there is only one way to obtain and sustain it… WORK. This also changes the view of not only myself but of those around me accomplishing hard things. Respect earned is respect given… and I’m continually impressed by those around me at KCF.
8. What would you say to anyone else who might be dealing with any similar struggles you did?
Be about progress, not perfection. Start where you are, use what you have, and do what you can. This will build and snowball… you’ll soon forget about whatever struggle you had.
9. Do you have any special moments/memories?
I really enjoyed competing in the CrossFit open at KCF. Everyone in the gym is hyped up and cheering each other on to push themselves. This was a special memory for me and I look forward to this upcoming year’s Open.
10. What is your favorite movement/lift?
Hang-cleans/Power Clean. I love the explosive power required to hang-clean/Power Clean. There’s also this satisfying feeling you get at the completion of a heavy Clean… Snapping the bar up, dropping under it, and hitting that final upright stand. AWESOME.
