1. What was life like before you became a member?
Before becoming a member the thought was always, “Someday, I’ll get in better shape.” This was also while eating a Big Mac and large fries.
2. At the time you enrolled, were you already exercising? What was your previous background in fitness?
When I was younger, in the 80’s, I did play a lot of sports. I played the whole year around. Baseball, then Football, and on to Basketball. During that time, it was just practice and playing games. There weren’t a lot of individual workouts. After my school days, it turned into softball and golf. Much less active sports and still not much activity on the side. The years before enrolling I tried running on and off, which usually led to back and feet pain. It’s feels great to be on a team again.
3. What originally prompted you to seek us out?
Jennifer (my beautiful wife): “You know you need to get in better shape. I saw this place on Facebook called Keystone CrossFit. You should give it a try.”
Ronnie (me): “I can’t do CrossFit.”
My Mind: “What the hell is CrossFit? Man, you gotta start doing something.”
Ronnie: “What’s the number?”
The following week….
Tim: ”I think I got one. And he’s a big one.”
4. What was your goal when you originally signed up?
When I joined, I was introduced to the 6-week challenge. I was hoping to lose a few pounds and mainly just get in a healthier routine. A new goal is to sneak in a few RX’s.
5. What have you liked best about working with us?
The Keystone Crossfit team is great. They’re knowledgeable when reviewing the lifts for the day. And they seem to know what you’re thinking. And of course, always there to give you a friendly correction or encouragement just at the right time.
I get bored with the same routine. I don’t look ahead at the workout until I get there. Having a different variation every day helps me keep motivated.
And there seems to be a lot of laughs considering you’re working so hard
6. What are you most proud of achieving since you started?
Aside from just being a little healthier and making gradual improvements, I’m most proud of just sticking with it. It has been a greater experience than I originally imagined.
7. With everything that you have accomplished, has your view of yourself changed?
I just feel that anytime you can work yourself through something that isn’t easy to do, you’re going to feel better. I can’t imagine where I’d be after the pandemic without having developed some healthier habits with the help of the Keystone Crossfit Team.
8. What would you say to anyone else who might be dealing with any similar struggles you did?
The hardest thing to do is just show up. Once you’re there, you’re in great hands with the coaches. And you’re not alone. We’re all battling the same WOD together.
9. Do you have any special moments/memories?
Every once in a while, I’ll do something physically and be like, I’d never be able to do that anymore if I wasn’t doing CrossFit.
10. What is your favorite movement/lift?
BURPEES. Obviously, joking! My favorite lift would be the Push Press. Off the rack, of course. You’re already halfway there!
SIMPLE. NEVER EASY. I LOVE IT!
