1.What was life like before you became a member?

I began to struggle with my weight after my third child (Coach Tim) was born.  I tried numerous diets and would lose 10 lbs. easily.  I even did Weight Watchers and lost 23 lbs. in no time but within a year it was back.  This was very frustrating and disheartening to say the least.  My 33 years in teaching/administration did not support my efforts to stay active because I worked around the clock and never found the time to exercise.  Walking and gardening were all I really did to stay active.

2. At the time you enrolled, were you already exercising? What was your previous background in fitness?

As a child I was all about running, jumping rope, riding bikes and playing stick ball.  In high school I danced and played tennis but once in college it all came to a grinding halt. At the time I enrolled at Keystone CrossFit I was only walking and raking rocks. LOL.

3. What originally prompted you to seek us out?

Coach Tim became a constant annoying buzzing in my ear!  No, I promised him I’d consider becoming a member when I moved to Pa from NY.

4. What was your goal when you originally signed up?

I wanted to strengthen my core, improve my flexibility and build lung capacity. I’ve always admired people who could run for miles.  Something I could once do. I never imagined myself lifting weights though!  It is so important to keep moving as you age.

5. What have you liked best about working with us?

Coach Tim has created an environment that is conducive to individual success. He has built a team of outstanding coaches who work closely with each member.  He constantly encourages me to be “more positive” about myself and scales my workouts to meet my abilities.  I love that the members encourage you to be the best you can be and cheer you along.

6. What are you most proud of achieving since you started?

I can do many things I never thought I would be able to do. I can squat deeper, jump higher and run longer than I did a year ago.

7. With everything that you have accomplished, has your view of yourself changed?

I am beginning to feel more confident as the weeks go by.  The WOD’s don’t feel as impossible as they did a year ago.

8. What would you say to anyone else who might be dealing with any similar struggles you did?

This is the place to come to face your demons.  Just come as often as you can each week, do the best you can and don’t be ashamed of not being able to do what everyone else is doing.  Coach Tim and his team will scale your workout, so you are successful.

9. Do you have any special moments/memories?

I started last September 2025 and by December I was sure I couldn’t do this anymore.  But I signed up for the “The Holiday Throwdown”.  I was shaking by the time I got there and on the verge of tears not knowing what to expect but Alison Benjamin and Stacey Stout took me and their mother, Anita, under their wings for the day.  We had so much fun and the team spirit was simply amazing.

10. What is your favorite movement/lift?

I do love Deadlifts and am a fan of Thrusters even though I can’t lift or thrust very much yet.
