1.What was life like before you became a member?

I would exercise very inconsistently, always felt sluggish and struggled a lot with stress and anxiety.

2. At the time you enrolled, were you already exercising? What was your previous background in fitness?

I was going to a personal trainer, but felt like I was just checking a box. I didn’t feel like I was making any progress, but just showing up to show up. Prior to that I would join a gym, but barely show up.

3. What originally prompted you to seek us out?

I wanted to exercise in a group setting and challenge myself to work harder on my overall health.

4. What was your goal when you originally signed up?

My goal was to be consistent and attend class. It’s easy to miss a day here and there and become comfortable with missing. I didn’t want to just have another membership that I didn’t use. I told myself to just show up.

5. What have you liked best about working with us?

The people.

All of the coaches take their time to show you how to properly do things. If you have questions, they are always patient in teaching. What I have enjoyed the most though is the relationships I have been able to make with other members. The environment and culture of Keystone CrossFit is something that would be hard to explain to someone, they just need to experience it for themself.

6. What are you most proud of achieving since you started?

Being as consistent as I have been is not something I have ever been able to do. I actually enjoy and look forward to coming to the gym on a daily basis. It’s addicting.

7. With everything that you have accomplished, has your view of yourself changed?

I have gained confidence in myself. Instead of saying “I can’t do this” I’ve become used to saying “I will learn this.” I’ve also become stronger and have more endurance. This makes everyday life much more enjoyable. Something as simple as playing outside with my children is more enjoyable since I am not getting so tired so quick.

8. What would you say to anyone else who might be dealing with any similar struggles you did?

Working on yourself is the best investment you can make. You don’t realize how much of a benefit physical activity and exercise is to your overall health, physically and mentally. Regardless of your abilities, CrossFit can be customized to where you are today. The best version of yourself starts when class ends.

9. Do you have any special moments/memories?

A few weeks ago I was able to get partially up the rope, something I thought I would never be able to do!

10. What is your favorite movement/lift?

I spent quite a bit of time doing back squats when I had tennis elbow. Early on, my heels wouldn’t even stay on the ground and my technique was pretty bad. Practicing this move over and over is a great reminder that regardless of where we are today, we will improve if we keep working on it.
